The Leadership Institute for Health Professions (LIHP), developed by Faculty Development at the Faculty of Health Sciences, is a six-week leadership program for emerging leaders. The LIHP aims to provide faculty with a well-rounded understanding of what it means to be a leader in academic healthcare. Participants will engage in personal and professional development by exploring a variety of topics from self-awareness and goal setting to effective team building and organizational dynamics. Individuals will leave the program with the knowledge and tools to lead in complex and challenging academic health science environments. This program addresses the following six areas in depth:
- Interpersonal communication
- Organizational culture, change & dynamics
- Project team management
- Leadership styles and practices
- Setting priorities, clarifying goals and strategic planning
- Empowering high-performing teams
The objectives of the program are to:

The Office of Professional Development & Educational Scholarship is the home of the Master of Health Professions Education Program. The MHPE provides health professionals with a focused program addressing the diverse teaching needs within the clinical or health related setting. Specifically, the program targets individuals employed in the health professions sector filling a gap between clinical knowledge and teaching skills, and/or residents/allied health students seeking a position at an academic setting.
