PRESENTER: Jena Hall, MD, MEd
Dr. Jena Hall is a PGY3 resident at Queen’s University and advocates for, and works with, Queen’s PGME leadership in the co-production and implementation of competency based medical education (CBME). She has helped establish, and now co-chairs, a Queen’s CBME Resident Subcommittee; a group of CBME resident leads across the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the College of Family Physicians of Canada programs that acts as a resident voice through the transition and integration of CBME.
Not only has Dr. Hall been involved with the Queen’s PGME transition to CBME, she is also involved at an international level. This year, Dr. Hall has taken on the role of Chief Resident at ICRE. She was a co-author on ICRE workshops and abstracts, describing the important aspects of resident leadership and change management. She continues to contribute to the medical education literature, and has sought outside training to improve this skill in the form of the Clinical Investigator Program and a Masters of Education.
Dr. Hall’s frequent contributions to resident life at Queen’s, whether it be welcoming incoming residents during orientation or participating in Grand Rounds, has led her to be viewed as a strong role model for her peers. She is a passionate advocate for resident education and an excellent spokesperson for her colleagues.
