Calling all health professionals who are new to the field of Infection Prevention Control (IPAC) or are about to enter into the practice of Infection Prevention and Control! The Infection Prevention and Control course is a fully online program that seeks to introduce participants to the practice of Infection Prevention and Control and to increase participants' knowledge and skills for managing the prevention and control of infections and disease.

Course Overview
The program consists of 12 modules spread across 18 weeks. One module is released per week and all learners are expected to go through each module together. Assessments consist of quizzes, assignments and interactive scenarios. For consistency purposes, all weekly assessments are due on Sundays at 11:30 p.m. Eastern Time (ET). Learners will also be asked to attend to attend a minimum of three synchronous sessions throughout the term.
Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify fundamental concepts of epidemiology and microbiology as they relate to IP&C
- Examine and investigate scenarios to practice problem-solving for IP&C
- Practice critical thinking and management skills for engaging in: routine practices and additional precations, surveillance, outbreak control of infections and disease within clinical and public health settings
- Apply research, teaching and life-long learning skills through engagement within a problem-based, online learning community
Certificate
Upon successful completion of the program, learners will receive a ceritifcate from the Faculty of Health Sciences through the Office of Professional Development & Educational Scholarship (OPDES). Completion of the Queen's IPC program does not certify the learner as an Infection Prevention and Control practitioner.
