Dr. Peter Szasz is an Assistant Professor and Bariatric and General Surgeon. He completed his residency in General Surgery at the University of Toronto, during which time he obtained a PhD in surgical education, where he focused on competency-based education and assessment practices. Dr. Szasz then completed his fellowship in Advanced Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard University.
His research focuses on improving education and assessment practices along the continuum of HPE training. He is involved in mentoring medical students, surgical residents and those enrolled in formal research training and he has various cross departmental research collaborations at Queen’s University and externally.
He also has a keen interest in resident education and currently serves as Chair of the General Surgery Competence Committee and Associate Program Director of the Advanced GI/MIS & Bariatric Fellowship.
