Dr. Kim Sears is a Professor at Queen's University School of Nursing. She is the Deputy Director of the JBI Queen’s Collaboration for Health Care Quality. Throughout her teaching experience Dr. Sears has been primarily involved in quality and safety in healthcare. She conducts an active program of research in health services with a focus on advancing quality care, reducing risk and improving patient safety. Most of her work focuses on furthering the quality and safety of medication delivery. Dr. Sears explores the advancement of medication delivery in Canada and internationally including both in the community and hospital settings for children and adults. She is familiar with the e-learning environment, distance learning, virtual clinical excursions (VCEs) and simulation. Dr. Sears has been a visiting scholar at both the University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Australia and the Centre for Teaching and Learning, University of Hawai’i, Honolulu, Hawai’i. She has also been an Educator in Residence at the Centre for Teaching and Learning and an Interprofessional Mentor, Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Further, she has been a Scholar in Residence Health Studies and Health Sciences, Bader College, Queen’s University, Herstmonceux Castle, Hailsham, England. As well she is an Inaugural Recipient of the Richard Resnick Fellowship Queen’s Health Sciences, Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada and an Adjunct Associate Professor within the School of Public Health and Medical Science, University of Adelaide, Adelaide, Australia.
