Dr. Filip Gilic completed his medical degree at the University of Toronto from 2001-2005. He completed his residency in Family Medicine, as well as an Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Queen's in 2008. He also completed a fellowship in Educational Scholarship at Queen's from 2018 to 2019.
He has been teaching at Queen's at various levels (medical school, Family Medicine and EM residents, Resuscitation Fellows) since 2010. Over the years he has been awarded the Queen's Faculty of Health Sciences award, the Aesculapian Society teaching award (seven times) and the Distinguished Preceptor award for the CCFP-EM teaching. As well, he is one of the Ontario Health Peers providing on-call support to EM doctors province wide through the Peer-to-Peer service.
His academic interests include using cognitive load theory to enable mastery-level performance in learners, intersections between medicine and other high stakes professions such as military and aviation; and studying performance under pressure. Outside of work, he sails, mountain bikes, skis and hikes with his wife and kids.
