Sociodemographic (identity) data provides important information on the different groups represented by Queen's students, faculty, and staff. This guide provides useful tips on how to improve the use and collection of identity data to better support EDIIA initatives.

Indigenous Data Sovereignty

When working with Indigenous identity data, it’s important to recognize Indigenous rights to data ownership and community authority including the First Nations principles of ownership, control, access, and possession (OCAP). The collection, analysis, and use of Indigenous identity data should be separate from other EDI efforts and involve Indigenous community members in its development.
