Dean’s Action Table (DAT) on EDI highlights:

Outreach and Summer Program Working Group is creating a health science youth program that would offer mentorship and summer program opportunities to equity-deserving youth.

EDI for Admission Working Group is developing a framework to conduct an environmental scan of admission policies and process across FHS and health science programs external to Queen’s University.

EDI Curriculum across FHS working group is also drafting a framework to conduct an environmental scan of FHS curriculum, which includes 50+ undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs.

EDI Research Working Group is developing a survey to be released to all FHS research groups to better understand the different approaches to EDI research, EDI in research governance, and EDI in knowledge translation across FHS.

The DAT-EDI Executive Committee is planning a DAT-EDI Forum scheduled for September 2021. At the forum, the DAT-EDI working groups will present their findings and recommendations and learners, staff, and faculty will share EDI initiatives across FHS.

The Department of Family Medicine teamed up with the EDI Office to release the Horizon BIPOC Lived Experiences in Queen’s Faculty of Health Sciences

The EDI Office collaborated with Kingston Immigration Partnership to host the You Belong Here Information Session to provide equity-deserving youth and their families with information on FHS programs.

The EDI Office supported the Queen’s Human Rights and Equity Office to offer a series of equity training opportunities for FHS learners, staff and faculty, which included sessions on Unconscious Bias, Anti-Oppression, and Handling Grievances and Complaints.
