Target Group
The Heart and Stroke Foundation Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course is the required certification for anyone working in areas such as an emergency department, intensive care unit, or cardiac care unit.
A current Heart and Stroke BLS certification is a mandatory prerequisite for this course, as mandated by the Heart and Stroke Foundation. We offer Heart and Stroke BLS recertification courses prior to all ACLS and PALS courses, based on sufficient demand.
Course Content
The ACLS course covers the treatment of: acute coronary syndromes, stroke and TIA, tachycardia, bradycardia, and the cardiac arrest protocols for V-fib/V-tach, PEA, and asystole. This 1-day in person training also includes self directed content that must be completed in advance of the in person session in order to qualify for certification. These sessions are normally offered every spring and fall. The Queen's ACLS instructors are emergency medicine resident physicians, advanced care paramedics, and emergency or cardiac care nurses.
This course offers a unique opportunity to learn the techniques of ACLS in an outstanding simulation lab facility and from instructors who have tremendous experience providing advanced cardiac life support.
ACLS certification is valid for 2 years.
