On the recommendation of Vice Dean Roger Pilon, Dean Jane Philpott has appointed Rylan Egan as Associate Director, Graduate Nursing Programs, and Associate Director, Health Quality Programs. His appointment began July 8, 2024, and is effective until June 30, 2027.
Dean Philpott extends her sincere gratitude to Rosemary Wilson for her leadership as Associate Director, Graduate Nursing Programs, and Associate Director, Health Quality Programs. Wilson led the graduate and HQ programs from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2024. Her leadership contributed to graduate program growth and the establishment of existing, newer programs, while ensuring programs remained inclusive and student centered.
Egan is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing (Health Quality Programs) and an adjunct professor in the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences.
Since joining Queen’s in 2012, he has held various leadership roles within Queen’s Health Sciences, including director of the Office of Health Sciences Education (presently part of the Office of Professional Development and Educational Scholarship), and Co-Director of the Health Sciences program in the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences. Egan’s background includes experience as an education developer at Queen’s Centre for Teaching and Learning, including time as program designer and education developer for Canadian Frailty Network (Network of Centers of Excellence). He has also (co) taught in the Master of Science in Healthcare Quality Program since 2013.
Egan has a Masters of Curriculum Science from Queen’s University and a Doctorate in Educational Psychology from Simon Fraser University, and has worked locally, nationally, and internationally on healthcare quality initiatives.
His research focuses includes systemizing and facilitating grassroots healthcare quality improvement at the institutional and provincial level, global health research and development, and curriculum design, development and evaluation.
