Queen’s Health Sciences (QHS) has added a new Research Talk to the Cinq à Sept digital collection from Dr. Shahirose Sadrudin Premji, Professor and Sally Smith Chair in Nursing, School of Nursing. Her talk, “The Journey to Better Mental Health During Pregnancy,” is sponsored by the Southeastern Ontario Academic Medical Association (SEAMO) and focuses on an aspect of pregnancy that is not often discussed: maternal mental health.
The Journey to Better Mental Health During Pregnancy
One in three pregnant people experience mental health challenges during pregnancy. Through her research and experience as a neonatal nurse and researcher working around the world, Dr. Shahirose Sadrudin Premji is helping to understand the impact of these mental health conditions during pregnancy and how to improve health outcomes for these parents and their babies long after birth. We are happy to share this newest 5 à 7 Research Talk and encourage you to share it with your family, friends, and colleagues.
Cinq à Sept Research Talks are inspired by the French tradition of gathering at the end of the workday. Talented researchers headline each Cinq à Sept, which feature engaging, TED-style talks in front of an audience of students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members. A reception following each Research Talk sparks connection and collaboration—an integral component of the strategic plan for Queen’s Health Sciences: Radical Collaboration for a Healthier World.
Tickets
The Cinq à Sept Research Talks run from 5 to 7 p.m. and are held at the Tett Centre, close to campus to allow participants to shift from work or the classroom to the event before going home. There are a limited number of free tickets available to QHS students, staff, and faculty—as well as Queen’s alumni and members of the Kingston community—on a first come first served basis.
