Dr. Peter L. Davies is the 2021 recipient of the Canadian Science Publishing Senior Investigator Award. A lifetime achievement awarded annually by the Canadian Society for Molecular Biosciences (CSMB), this award recognizes a Canadian scientist with a record of outstanding research achievement in the fields of biochemistry, molecular or cellular biology.
CSMB represents the professional interests of scientists across Canada in the fields of Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology and Genetics. Recipients of this prize have contributed significantly through their research and been respected leaders in advocating for the scientific community and in teaching future generations of scholars.
Dr. Davies is a professor in the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences and a Canada Research Chair in Protein Engineering. His current research looks at the relationship between structure and function of three different types of proteins, antifreeze proteins, bacterial adhesins, and calpain enzymes.
Dr. Davies is the first recipient from Queen’s to receive the Science Publishing Investigator Award. The award lecture will be given by Dr. Davies on June 16th, 2021 at the virtual CSMB Annual Conference.
