On the recommendation of Interim Dean Stephen Vanner, Matthew Evans, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic), has appointed Dr. Katrina Gee as Interim Head, Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences (DBMS) effective January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025.
Dean Vanner extends his gratitude to Dr. Lynne-Marie Postovit who has taken on the role of Vice-Provost (Academic Affairs) at Queen’s. During her tenure as department head, she demonstrated exceptional leadership and mentorship and championed collaborative research initiatives including the Discovery Labs and the development of research clusters.
Dr. Gee has been a faculty member in DBMS since 2007 and currently serves as Professor and Associate Head of Graduate Studies in the department. With a distinguished career in immunology, Dr. Gee’s research has contributed to understanding cytokine signaling and immune responses, particularly in viral infections and cancer. Her work has been widely recognized, with over 50 peer-reviewed publications and ongoing funding from national and international agencies.
A committed educator and mentor, Dr. Gee has supervised numerous graduate and undergraduate students, fostering the next generation of scientists in her field. She has played a vital role in shaping academic programs as course coordinator for several advanced immunology courses and contributed to developing innovative curriculum initiatives.
