Queen’s Faculty of Health Sciences faculty member Dr. Fabiano Gomes has received a Brain and Behavior Research Foundation (BBRF) Young Investigator Award.
BBRF Young Investigator Grants are awarded to promising investigators to assist them in beginning their careers as independent research faculty. The BBRF is dedicated to mental health research and is one of the most prestigious non-governmental foundations in the United States.
Dr. Gomes, who joined Queen’s Department of Psychiatry earlier this year, has an extensive background as a scholar and an educator. His main areas of research include severe mental illness and treatment-resistant mood disorders.
For a two-year period beginning in January 2021, the grant will support Dr. Gomes’ research on the efficacy and safety of the ketogenic diet in women with major depressive disorders.
