CARL MASTOMAKI AWARD
Awarded to a graduating student in Honours Life Sciences whose character is judged to reflect best the spirit of the program based on: a) outstanding contribution to class activities, b) consistent participation in extracurricular activities, and c) collegiality. Carl Mastomaki died of cancer in February 1994. Although this disease forced him to leave Queen’s in September 1993, only one month after entering the 3rd year of the honours Life Sciences program, those who had the privilege of meeting him will remember a person who constantly gave more than expected in everything he attempted. In recognition of this personal quality, the criteria for this award were established. It was the wish of the members of the Life Sciences Class of 1994 that Carl be remembered through the annual presentation of this award.
