On the recommendation of Dean Lisa Tannock, Matthew Evans, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic), has reappointed Dr. Suzanne K. Bridge as Head, Department of Critical Care Medicine. Her appointment is effective July 1, 2026, for another five-year term. Dr. Bridge has also been reappointed Head, Department of Critical Care Medicine at Kingston Health Sciences Centre.
Dr. Bridge earned her BSc (Honours) in Life Sciences and her MSc in Pharmacology and Toxicology from Queen’s University. She received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Toronto in 2005, where she also completed her residency in internal medicine in 2009. In 2011, Dr. Bridge completed a clinical fellowship in adult critical care medicine at Stanford University.
After joining the University of Toronto as a lecturer in 2011, Dr. Bridge also served as lead education preceptor for the Oshawa Critical Care Medicine Program. In 2015, she returned to Queen's University as a faculty member in critical care medicine, with a cross-appointment in the Department of Medicine.
Dr. Bridge is an exceptional clinician who is committed to excellent patient care. Over the last five years as department head, she has overseen the expansion of critical care medicine at Queen’s and the development of a neurocritical care program. As former program director of the critical care training program, she received the CBD Innovator Certificate of Excellence (RSPSC) and was twice nominated by peers and trainees for the Canadian Medical Association Certificate of Merit and the PARO Residency Program Excellence Award.
