On the recommendation of Dean Lisa Tannock, Matthew Evans, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic), has appointed Dr. Katrina Gee as Head of the Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences (DBMS), effective February 1, 2026. Her appointment will continue through June 30, 2031.
With a distinguished career in immunology, Dr. Gee’s research has contributed to understanding cytokine signaling and immune responses, particularly in viral infections and cancer. Her work has been widely recognized, with over 50 peer-reviewed publications and ongoing funding from national and international agencies.
A committed educator and mentor, Dr. Gee has supervised numerous graduate and undergraduate students, fostering the next generation of scientists in her field. She has played a vital role in shaping academic programs as course coordinator for several advanced immunology courses and contributed to developing innovative curriculum initiatives.
Dean Tannock thanks Dr. Gee for her leadership as interim head and congratulate her on the appointment.
