Dr. Ron Shore has thirty-five years of experience in health, health promotion and disease prevention, addictions treatment, community, and mental health. He is the founder of Kingston’s Street Health Centre, a community health centre for people facing multiple barriers to health, including homelessness, trauma, and addiction. Dr. Shore has significant expertise in leadership, partnership, executive management, and strategic planning with health and science-oriented organizations. A respected educator, Dr. Shore was previously a part-time Professor in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Studies at Queen’s University, teaching the popular Introduction to the Study of Drug and Alcohol Problems for sixteen years. Ron has also taught drug studies and health policy at Ottawa University and is faculty of the Michener Institute in Toronto. He recently served as Assistant Scientific Director of the Centre for Psychedelics Health and Research at Providence Care.
Research Interests
A research scientist, Dr. Shore’s areas of research include learning and memory, addiction, mood disorders, end-of-life care, health policy, knowledge synthesis and novel therapeutics. Ron’s PhD and master’s in public administration (health policy), were both completed at Queen’s University. Dr. Shore has previously served as a Guest Co-Editor of a special edition of the Journal of Military, Veteran and Family Health.
