About the program
"Meskanaw” means journey in Cree.
The program was specifically designed to support Mushkegowuk youth interested in the journey toward healthcare careers including nursing, paramedicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other community-focused health professions.
Meskanaw is rooted in the idea that students should be able to pursue healthcare education without having to be disconnected from community, culture, and support systems.
Over the course of 10 months, students will live in Moosonee while completing 3 and/or 4U courses online with structured tutoring and academic support. Students will also participate in cultural and community programming, receive mentorship, and gain healthcare-related work exposure in supported settings.
The program is designed to help students strengthen the academic foundations, experiences, and supports needed to apply to postsecondary healthcare-focused programs following completion.
