With over 100,000 regular members and reservists serving in the Canadian Armed Forces, nearly 650,000 Veterans, and 60,600 military families, this population is faced with particular health risks, be they physical, mental or social in nature. Researchers at the Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research (CIMVHR) are working together to protect and enhance the health and well-being of this population.

CIMVHR connects all stakeholders invested in Canadian military and Veteran health research, including academic researchers at 45 Canadian universities; government organizations such as the Department of National Defence, Veterans Affairs Canada, and Health Canada; industry; philanthropy; global affiliations; serving military members, Veterans, and their families.

Building the next generation of researchers conducting work on areas relevant to military members, Veterans and their families is a key part of CIMVHR's mandate. To achieve this, the pan-Canadian CIMVHR graduate course educates students nationwide about health-related issues associated with Canadian military service and the global understanding of the health needs and well-being of those serving the military, Veterans and their families.
