Queen’s University has, for many decades, been known for its phenomenal student experience. But in recent years, there has been a big collective push to realize our goal for a balanced academy by combining that excellent student experience with an intensified research environment. There is a general appreciation around campus that what’s needed most, notwithstanding increasing challenges in the funding environment, is a redoubled focus on fortifying our research endeavours.
FHS Strategic Framework-2015-2020-Nursing.
In 2016 the School of Nursing is celebrating the 75th anniversary. The School wasformed in 1941 and has continued to evolve from a sandwich nursing program incollaboration with hospital diploma programs to the full suite of RN programs –entry to practice to PhD. The faculty and staff examined the previous strategic planand realigned the priorities and outcomes to reflect the changes that haveoccurred since 2015. This strategic plan will guide the faculty, staff and students, asthey prepare for accreditation, program approval, and quality assurance in 2020.
We will achieve our vision by improving the health and well-being of our population and by advancing health sciences through research. Collectively, our outstanding faculty, staff and students conduct high impact research, educate and train exceptional health sciences professionals, and with our partnering institutions, deliver healthcare to our communities.
As one of the three schools that comprise the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), the School of Medicine (SOM), together with the School of Rehabilitation Therapy and School of Nursing, has taken great strides in advancing our shared vision and values. Through our collaboration, we have also advanced the strategies of the individual schools and united around a common strategic framework.
