Dr. Stephen Scott reappointed as the GlaxoSmithKline Chair in Neurosciences

Dean Richard Reznick is pleased to announce that Benoit-Antoine Bacon, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic) at Queen’s University, has reappointed Dr. Stephen Scott as the GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Chair in Neurosciences, Faculty of Health Sciences, for a five-year period beginning August 1, 2017.

Nursing SOAR (Summer Orientation to Academics and Resources)

The SOAR program aims to help ease the transition of incoming first-year students and their families. Participants will have an opportunity to learn about academic expectations, resources, learning strategies, and common student transition issues, as well as meet upper-year students, tour a residence room, and have their questions and concerns addressed.

Incoming first-year Nursing students will have the opportunity to meet with faculty and current Nursing students, and tour the Nursing Simulation Lab.

Congratulations to Dr. Karen Schultz, Program Director, Postgraduate Education (left), and Dr. Eva Purkey, Program Director, Global Health, who received Canadian Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) recognition at Family Medicine Forum on November 11.

Dr. Andrea Winthrop honoured as the 2017 John Provan Outstanding Surgical Educator Award

The Canadian Undergraduate Surgical Education Committee (CUSEC) executive recently honoured Dr. Andrea Winthrop as the 2017 John Provan Outstanding Surgical Educator Award. The award is presented every two years to one surgeon who has made a significant contribution to undergraduate medical education. The award is sponsored by the Canadian Association of Surgical Chairs.
