Dr. Duncan Sinclair appointed to the Order of Canada

This past week, Dr. Duncan Sinclair, has been appointed to the Order of Canada. Dr. Sinclair served the (then) Faculty of Medicine as the dean from 1988 to 1996. He also served the Faculty of Arts and Sciences as the dean from 1974 to 1983. Dr. Sinclair is being recognized for his “contributions to the Canadian Health Care system as a teacher, university administrator and advisor, and for his leadership in health care reform in Ontario.” Among Dr. Sinclair’s many achievements, he led the creation of the Southeastern Ontario Academic Medical Organization (SEAMO), North America’s first alternative funding program for academic medicine and he served as the Chair of the Health Services Restructuring Commission (HSRC) for the Ontario Government. Dr. Sinclair joined Queen’s in 1966 as the Markle Scholar in Academic Medicine and went on to serve in other positions at Queen’s such as Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science, and Vice-Principal of Health Sciences.
