Drs. Damon Dagnone and Renée Fitzpatrick receive Principal's Teaching and Learning Awards

The 2017 winners of the Principal’s Teaching and Learning Awards have been announced with awards being handed out in educational leadership, student services, and curriculum development. Two of the three awards were given to Health Sciences faculty members Drs. Damon Dagnone and Renée Fitzpatrick.

The awards, created in 2015, recognize individuals and teams who have shown exceptional innovation and leadership in teaching and learning on campus and are administered by the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL).

A million thanks to our staff

In the Faculty of Health Sciences, we are blessed with a very large staff of nearly 750 individuals who, day in day out, work extremely hard to enable our academic mission to thrive. One thing we don’t do often enough is say thanks. This blog is dedicated to all of our staff.

For many, the reason they work in the Faculty of Health Sciences is that the work we do, researching important areas for the health and well-being of our populations, and teaching and training the next generation of scientists and clinicians, resonates so strongly. To be sure, we could not do any of this without the support and dedication this amazingly talented and strong group of staff.

Dr. Alyson Mahar receives Colonel Russell Mann Military Family Health Research Award

Congratulations to Dr. Alyson Mahar, recipient of the 2017 Colonel Russell Mann Military Family Health Research Award! 

Each year, the Vanier Institute of the Family recognizes high-quality Canadian research that increases our understanding of military and Veteran family health with the Colonel Russell Mann Military Family Health Research Award, delivered annually at Canadian Institute for Military and Veteran Health Research (CIMVHR) Forum events.

Dr. Roumen Milev appointed as Director of the Centre for Neuroscience Studies

Dr. John Fisher, Vice-Principal (Research), Dr. Richard Reznick, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, and Dr. Barbara Crow, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science, are pleased to announce that Benoit-Antoine Bacon, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic) at Queen’s University, has appointed Dr. Roumen Milev as the Director of the Centre for Neuroscience Studies, Office of the Vice-Principal (Research), for a five-year period beginning October 1, 2017. 

Dr. Claudio Soares appointed as Head of the Department of Psychiatry

Dean Richard Reznick is pleased to announce that Benoit-Antoine Bacon, Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic) at Queen’s University, has appointed Dr. Claudio Soares as Head of the Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Health Sciences, for a five-year period beginning October 1, 2017.
