Health Sciences Leadership Series

 This program is designed to support the faculty in the Faculty of Health Sciences and provide them with tools and resources as they transition into new roles and organizational structure. This program is a collaboration between the Office of Faculty Development and Human Resources, Organizational Development and Learning unit. Customized for Queen’s Health Sciences Faculty, this comprehensive program integrates advanced management skill acquisition with leadership development and provides an opportunities to network with colleagues in other units. Participants will gain deeper understanding of their leadership capabilities, expand communication skills enhance their ability to manage projects, and build better relationships within and outside their department.

 Format

 The format is cohort style with the maximum number of participants set at 30. The program will consist of six full-day sessions. Each session’s learning builds on itself and would be offered bi-monthly.

 The blended learning formats will include in-class sessions, on-line modules, self-directed components, resources, readings, discussions, and case studies. The bi-monthly sessions will provide opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired in each session, to build on the concepts from each of the individual sessions, and to report back on successes and challenges.

 Workshops Included:

 Day 1 – Understanding and Using Leadership Styles (DiSC Work of Leaders) with Roger Billings (September 16th, 2014)

Day 2 – Conflict Resolution/Effective Committee Meetings with Roger Billings and Lon Knox (November 11, 2014)

Day 3 – Communication Skills:  Influencing Others and Building Trust with DiSC with Roger Billings (February 5, 2015)

Day 4 – Strategic Planning with Douglas Reid (May 11, 2015)

Day 5 – Project Management with Lynda Pinnington (September 22, 2015)

Day 6 – Human Rights for Leaders: Understanding Human Rights at Queen's/Leading Change with Irene Bujara and Carol Beatty (Nov 2, 2015)

 Course Fee:

 $1500.00 which includes breakfast, lunch and nutrition breaks and the course resource binder.
